Visit the St. Augustine Wild Reserve

The St. Augustine Wild Reserve was founded in 1995 by Deborah Marlene Warrick. With her degree in Biology from the University of North Florida and decades of experience with animals, she is the perfect caretaker for these vulnerable creatures. Many of the animals at the rescue were adopted as pets, though their former owners quickly realized that they were incapable of caring for them. The Reserve serves as a haven for these animals, which range from wolves to lions and tigers.

Take a Tour of the Reserve

Tours of the St. Augustine Wild Reserve are available every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Appointments are required for every tour. This facility is unlike a zoo in that public drop-ins are not allowed. The tours last two hours and are led by an experienced staff member. One of the highlights of the tour is the tiger bubble bath. Watch as these creatures are given a soothing treatment which will rid them of any pests and clean their fur.

Photography is not permitted at the Reserve as it can irritate the animals. You will, however, be given a CD of photographs at the end of your tour. You’ll definitely want this to commemorate your amazing trip!

Help the St. Augustine Wild Reserve

Before your visit to the St. Augustine Wild Reserve, check the wishlist on their website. There are many affordable but much-needed items on there, including cases of bottled water, bird seed, and blueberry muffins. (Apparently, coatis and deer enjoy snacking on muffins!)
