St Augustine Events This Week Feature Annual Festival and Uptown Saturday Night

One thing you can always count on when it comes to St. Augustine is the many events that take place year-round. Springtime is often one of the busiest times as visitors gather to enjoy the warm weather and our beautiful sandy beaches alongside a view of breathtaking history!

Once you grow accustomed to visiting during a specific time of year, you will soon make some of the many St Augustine Events traditional.

Friday – Sunday, February 23-25

Cathedral Festival

One of the area’s largest festivals features rides, games, bingo, a silent auction, food, beverages, fireworks and local bands playing each day. The festival takes place at the Mission Nombre de Dios beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday and noon on Saturday and Sunday. Fireworks go off Saturday at 9 p.m., weather permitting. Saturday, February 24

Mardi Gras 5K on the Beach

The race begins at 9 a.m. at Anastasia State Park. The route takes runners through Anastasia State Park and on the beach. The cost ranges from $40-$25. 300 Anastasia Park Rd., St. Augustine 904-471-9622

Hall of Fame Speaker Series: African American History Month

The World Golf Hall of Fame is honoring African American History Month with a Speaker Series that begins at 11 a.m. The speakers include Lee Elder, first African-American to play in the Masters Tournament in 1975, Pete McDaniel, freelance golf writer, and Wendell Haskins, former senior director of diversity with the PGA of America. The Blackwater Sol Revue at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre

The St. Augustine Amphitheatre will be host to a full day of swampy soul, rock and blues music when The Blackwater Sol Revue featuring JJ Grey & Mofro, Los Lobos, North Mississippi Allstars, Marcus King Band and more returns to St. Augustine. Doors open at 2:30 p.m., and the show begins at 3:30 p.m. Tickets range from $50-$30. 1340 A1A South, St. Augustine 904-209-0367

Uptown Saturday Night

Uptown Saturday Night is the perfect event for fashionistas, art lovers and antique shoppers from 5-8 p.m. on the last Saturday of each month. Uptown Saturday Night takes place year-round and combines a festive party atmosphere with hospitality and special deals in the unique shops on St. Augustine’s San Marco Avenue, concentrated between Ripley’s Museum and the Mission Nombre de Dios. Many participating shops also serve refreshments. The Mission Nombre de Dios provides free parking most months. 904-829-6831

Changing of the Guard

At 6 p.m., see history come to life when 18th century Spanish soldiers march down St. George Street from the Colonial Quarter to the Governor’s House Cultural Center & Museum where they perform authentic military drills before firing an exciting volley of musketry. The event features the St. Augustine Garrison. 48 King St., St. Augustine 904-834-1540

Sunday, February 25

Last Sunday – Music in the Box

On the last Sunday of the month, enjoy live music by some of the area’s best up-and-coming bands and musicians from 6-8 p.m. on stage at the Limelight Theatre. This month’s performance is by Chelsea Saddler and Shea Birney. Admission is $5. Refreshments are available for purchase. 11 Old Mission Ave., St. Augustine 904-825-1164
