Spend a Day on the Green at These St. Augustine Golf Courses
St. Johns Golf & Country Club
Situated between St. Augustine and Jacksonville is the St. Johns Golf & Country Club. It served as host to the PGA Qualifying School for seven years, but you don’t need to be an expert to enjoy this 18-hole course. There are five tee positions, as well as a family tee. Aside from the course, you’ll also enjoy their onsite restaurant, which offers lunch and happy hour every day, as well as dinner on Thursdays and Fridays.
If you need to brush up on your golf technique, St. Johns Golf & Country Club can help! They offer private lessons with their instructor John Mousley. From the fit of your club to the form of your swing, John will give you the tools to improve your game.
Royal St. Augustine Golf and Country Club
Often considered one of the best golf courses around, the Royal St. Augustine Golf and Country Club offers a lovely 18-hole public course. This is an excellent option for visitors regardless of skill level, as there are four tee positions offered that vary in difficulty. You can book your tee time online at your convenience. Be sure to stop by their clubhouse after your game. They offer a full bar and a menu of sandwiches and burgers. It’s the perfect way to refuel!
The Slammer & Squire
With such a unique name, you can be sure that a day at The Slammer & Squire is going to be fun! This public course is named for World Golf Hall of Fame Members Sam Snead (nicknamed The Slammer) and Gene Sarazen (nicknamed, you guessed it, the Squire). Together, they enlisted the help of Bobby Weed to design an 18-hole, 6,939-yard course. When you visit, you’re sure to notice that this course is meticulously groomed. The trio of Snead, Weed, and Sarazen took great care in preserving St. Augustine’s natural beauty while designing it. You can book your tee time online, and the course also offers equipment rental. Don’t forget to visit The Legends Restaurant & Grill in the clubhouse. It features floor-to-ceiling windows, which means that you’ll enjoy a hearty burger and a gorgeous view.
Can’t Get Enough Golf? Visit the World Golf Hall of Fame!
If you book a tee time at The Slammer & Squire, be sure to make time to visit the World Golf Hall of Fame next door! Here, you’ll learn about the sport’s most iconic athletes and supporters. That includes legends like Arnold Palmer and comedian Bob Hope. Their exhibits often rotate, so you’ll have something new to see each time you visit!
