Experience a St. Augustine Fourth of July
The most popular celebration in town will take place at the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument. This historic site is the oldest masonry fort in the continental U.S., making it the perfect place to commemorate our country’s independence! The festivities will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, with a concert. The popular local band, The All-Star Orchestra, will perform for two hours. Enjoy clapping and dancing along to swing music, big band hits, and plenty of patriotic classics. This event is completely free and open to the public. It is suggested that visitors bring along a lawn chair so they may enjoy the concert comfortably.
Watch the Fireworks Display!
The main event begins at 9:30 p.m., with the iconic “Fireworks Over the Matanzas” display. This 20-minute show has been choreographed to patriotic music that’s played over a state-of-the-art sound system that you can hear for miles!
Due to the expected turnout, many of the roads to the Castillo de San Marcos will be blocked off, and the parking lot of the monument will not be open to the public. Instead, the City of St. Augustine encourages everyone to use public transportation or bicycles to get to the site. There will be a park and ride service available on Anastasia Boulevard, and you can find out our picks for the best St. Augustine bike rentals on our blog! If you’d prefer to stay in the historic district, you will likely be able to watch the fireworks display from Agustin Inn!
