Over the past decade St. Augustine has received various accolades for its historic authenticity and preservation, beautiful Nights of Lights presentation during the holiday season (featured in Rachel Ray Magazine and National Geographic), its beautiful beaches, and even by popular travel review site Trip Advisor as a top ten destination to travel to in the U.S.
What was once thought of by many as Florida’s best kept secret is now one of the most sought-after vacation spots in the U.S.!
It comes as no surprise that St. Augustine has just made its way toward the top of another list, ranking fourth among family vacation destinations.
Family Fun magazine announced its third annual Travel Awards winners on Thursday.
The winning locations represent the best family-friendly vacation spots in the United States, as chosen by 2,000 families from across the country.
Award categories included attractions, state parks and museums, all of which can be found right here in St Augustine.
“We rely on real families to vote on their favorite destinations — from awe-inspiring science museums to charming American towns with rich history and culture,” said Ann Hallock, editor-in-chief of FamilyFun.
The South region hosts this year’s top four destinations: Sanibel, Gatlinburg, Tennessee, Savannah, Georgia, and St. Augustine.
Across all categories and regions, St. Augustine received the eighth-highest overall score.
