This is said to be a major victory for our local distillery and #1 St. Augustine attraction – especially since it is a relatively new location!
“Both our gin and rum were given scores of 90 points, which is a personal best for us and a distinguished industry score,” St. Augustine Distillery CEO Philip McDaniel said in a news release. “We were up against some of the top spirits in the world, and took home two additional gold medals to add to our collection. Over the past two years, we’ve medaled in every competition that we’ve entered.”
Local press just released that the St. Augustine Distillery has been aging hundreds of whiskey barrels in the facility since opening in 2014 and will release that first batch next month! What’s really exciting about this is that its the first bourbon to be put into barrel in the State of Florida since Prohibition.
The Florida Double Cask Bourbon will be available at the distillery’s gift shop on Friday, September 9 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and select retailers, bars and restaurants shortly after!
