Miles of shoreline, pet-friendly and clean, un-crowded beaches are some of the reasons why St. Augustine Beach was named No. 14 on a list of the top 25 U.S. beaches in the TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice awards this year.
Residents, frequent visitors, and city officials are most proud to be found in this prestigious list! All agree that we have one of the most beautiful beaches in the country along with a growing list of historical attractions and places to see.
Travelers reviewing beaches at tripadvisor.com can rate a beach between 1 and 5, and have the option to fill out a full review.
The Travelers Choice Beaches award-winners were determined based on the quality and quantity of traveler reviews and ratings for beaches gathered in the 12-month period following last year’s awards,” said Erin Millard, a spokesperson for tripadvisor.com, an online site which provides travel advice and reviews by millions of guests worldwide.
The site allows travelers to write about their experience.
Several of the 588 reviews came from residents rating our beach five stars and offered a shining description of what they liked best. The majority however came from our many visitors also leaving a remarkable impression with their creative reviews.
In the second year of the awards, Florida tied with Hawaii for having the most beaches in the top 25, both coming in with 10. St. Augustine Beach was the only beach on Florida’s east coast named to the list.
Lanikai Beach in Hawaii was named No. 1, and one of seven from the 50th state in the top 10. Siesta Key Public Beach in Siesta Key, Fla., was No. 3, Hunting Island State Park in Beaufort, S.C., was No. 7 and St. Petersburg Beach in St. Petersburg, Fla., was No. 9. St Augustine Beach is proud to land 14th place on this prestigious list!
