Plan the Ultimate Romantic Getaway in St. Augustine
Tour the City
Explore on Foot
Picture this: you’re strolling hand-in-hand with your partner along the sidewalks of St. Augustine’s historic district. The buildings represent a mix of Spanish, French, and modern architectural styles. In the distance, you see the elegant rooftops of historic cathedrals. What could be more romantic than that? It doesn’t have to remain a fantasy. Tour the streets of downtown St. Augustine, and you’ll be able to enjoy the romantic setting for yourself.
Many of our guests enjoy creating their own walking tour of the city. A great example is the one sold by City Walking Guide, which includes 40 points of interest. Another excellent option for a romantic stroll is the search for the St. Augustine love trees. Some residents claim that the love trees are lovers who have been caught in an eternal embrace, while others simply say that they’re just interwoven barks. No matter the answer, it’s still fun to walk around the city and take photos of as many trees as possible.
Take the Trolley
Old Town Trolley is a great option when it comes to taking a tour of downtown St. Augustine. There are a total of 23 stops on the route. These range from historic sites, like Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, to more modern hotspots, like the St. Augustine Distillery. When you purchase your ticket through Agustin Inn, you’ll have the option to get a three-day ticket rather than the standard one-day pass. It’s an easy and convenient way to get all around town with no hassle!
Enjoy a Carriage Tour
What’s more romantic than taking a horse and carriage tour? The answer is a private horse and carriage tour. When you book the Agustin Classic Romance Package or the Ultimate Romance Package, you’ll receive a private horse and carriage ride, as well as other romantic goodies. Take a look at both of these packages and add one of them to your reservation for that extra special touch.
Relax on the Beach
The ocean is the perfect backdrop to a romantic afternoon and St. Augustine some nearby beaches that are ideal for guests on an intimate getaway. St. Augustine Beach, located on Anastasia Island, is the more popular option. It features a playground, fishing pier, and volleyball courts, as well as some fantastic nearby restaurants. If you’d prefer something less crowded, head to Vilano Beach. North of downtown, this local favorite has a heavier surf and stronger current. This quiet stretch of shoreline is a wonderful place to lay out and enjoy a quiet moment with your partner.
Watch the Sunset
There are two ways to get an amazing view of the sunset in St. Augustine. The first is by booking the Schooner Freedom Sunset Sail. These excursions are available at the beginning of every month and can be included to your Agustin Inn reservation as one of our add-on attractions.
If you’re lucky, you can book a spot at the incredibly popular Sunset Moonrise Lighthouse Tour. It’s only held once a month and spaces fill up fast, so you’ll want to book far in advance. The tour takes place at the top of the St. Augustine Lighthouse. You’ll watch the sunset and the moonrise from one of the best vantage points in the city. Guests are also treated to complimentary champagne from San Sebastian Winery and hors d’oeuvres from The Reef Restaurant.
See a Show
Instead of the same boring night at the cinema, check out the local theatre scene while you’re in town. We’ve put an upscale twist on the classic “dinner and a move” date! Our Limelight Theatre Package includes a dinner for two at La Pentola Restaurant (which you can read more about below), two tickets to see the featured play at the Limelight Theatre, and Eco Cab transportation to and from the show.
