Here Are Some Fun Things to do in St. Augustine!

Explore St. George Street

St. George Street is a pedestrian-only thoroughfare that runs along the heart of downtown St. Augustine. Lining the street are shops, attractions, historic sites, and restaurants. The street starts with the Old City Gates, which used to protect the city, and runs about a mile south. Stop in any of the historic houses or tour the oldest schoolhouse in the nation. There are some great shops to browse, too! The Spanish Dutch Convoy is a locally owned boutique featuring leather good and bags. If you’ve got a four-legged friend at home, stop by Faux Paws. You’ll find lots of amazing accessories and costumes to deck out your dog.

Take a Tour

There are so many great tours available in St. Augustine, from ghost tours that detail the legends of the area to tasting tours that take visitors to the best local restaurants. If you’d rather bike than walk, take a look at St. Augustine Bike Rentals. For history buffs, check out a historic walking tour. St. Augustine Historic Walking Tours offers four tour options ranging from local legends and the history of Spaniards in our city to historic architecture and even a tour for dogs and their owners! If you want to combine your love of history with your love of beer, go on the Historic Pub Crawl.

Visit our Historic Sites

Being the nation’s oldest city means that we have plenty of amazing historic sites around town. Near the beach is Castillo de San Marcos, the oldest masonry fort in the United States. Every weekend, reenactors at the site give a weapons demonstration, setting off cannons and antique guns. The St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum is another fantastic site. If you’re lucky, you can snag a ticket to the Sunset Moonrise Tour, which only happens once a month. Guests watch the sunset and the moonrise from the top of the historic St. Augustine Lighthouse while sipping champagne from a local winery and snacking on hors d’oeuvres from The Reef Restaurant.
