To kickoff the celebration of Florida's discovery by Ponce de Leon in 1513 the city of St Augustine launched a series of events through the year 2013. One of these events is the Picasso Art and Arena Exhibition inside the recently-remodeled state-of-the-art Visitor Information Center (VIC) at 10 Castillo Drive.
The exhibition showcases 39 Pablo Picasso works of art from the Fundación Picasso, Museo Casa Natal of Málaga, Spain. This includes his famous 11 lithographs dissecting the Toro.
Picasso Art and Arena is a tribute to the Spanish cultural and artistic traditions that were introduced to Florida by Juan Ponce de Leon in 1513 and St Augustine by Don Pedro Menendez de Aviles in 1565. The exhibition is designed for families as well as the art connoisseur.
To share the excitement with our guests, the Agustin is featuring a fantastic July special! All you have to do is spend two consecutive nights with us during the month of July and receive two comp tickets to the exhibit!
We call this our Summer Art Lover’s Special… If you love art as much as we do, simply mention this special when reserving your room and we will gladly place two tickets to see the Picasso Exhibit in your room upon arrival. The famous art display is open for visitors inside the VIC from February 1st through August the 11th from 9am – 5:00 pm daily. The exhibition is self-guided, but docent-led tours are available. Picasso Art & Arena is presented by docents in English and Spanish.
